My wife's parents own a farm in Lititz, Pa. The farm was built in 1776. They have an old barn on their property that they used as a detached garage for years. In the last couple years it has deteriorated beyond repair. They asked if I would take it down for them and I could keep the wood. I was thrilled! But still not sure how I was going to take this thing down all by myself. So I said yes I will take it down for you. I started with the roof and worked my way down. It was a lot like my home building days only I was by myself and de-constructing rather than constructing. It was a lot of fun. The one thing I love about my job is that I am always doing something new everyday. It took me about 3-4 weeks to get it all cleaned up and neatly stack behind my shop. I was really excited about all the wood that I got and it should last me a long time.
